Recovery

What's everybody think of Eminem's new album. I've always had a love-hate relationship with eminem... his good songs I love, but the majority of his songs I hate. His talent is undeniable, but most of his songs are just bogus and dumb. The one's that aren't though, are amazing. This album, I think, is probably his best. He's got a lot of battle rap type lyrics on here, which usually I don't like, but Eminem makes em sound great. Not a huge fan of Rihanna, but Love The Way You Lie is the best track on the album. I hate Lil Wayne, but even he steps it up a little bit on "No Love." The beat for that song is unreal and Em's verse is super tight. There are still some dumb bogus songs, but I don't see Em making songs solely for the shock value he can get from the lyrics on this album. Here's my favorite songs on the album.

1. Love The Way You Lie
2. Not Afraid
3. 25 To Life
4. Talkin To Myself
5. No Love
6. Won't Back Down
7. Space Bound
8. Going Through Changes

"Transitions" being used for UWEC?

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wants to use our "Transitions" video as some type of a 'meaningful, yet fun solicitation.' And I quote: 'Your group seems to produce high quality videos with high quality lyrics and music, and we find this intriguing.'

I'm not sure of the specifics of this, but it seems like a cool opportunity.

Drake

I'm not a big fan of Drake, don't really like this style, but I am eager to hear his new album.

Tell me if anyone agrees with me on how I feel about Drake:
I feel like he is more talented than he lets on. Being affiliated with Lil Wayne/Young Money and being pretty much a 'pop' rapper, I feel like he intentionally keeps his lyrics and flow simple and cliche to obtain the mass audience. He has a cool voice, and flashes of good ability, but in the songs I've heard he never really seems to break through as a legitimate MC, which I think he would be if he wasn't bound by the chains of... well, money. Listening to interviews with him, he sounds like a smart dude that knows what he's doing, not some moron like Lil Wayne or Plies or someone that you know is not intelligent and can't formulate any good verses or concepts. This dude seems to have his head on straight but is just stuck in that simple punch line crazy world of new "good" commercial rap. Maybe my opinions will change with this new album, but right now I'm not a fan of this guy at all.

Things I hate about promoting with Social Networking

As a new musical artist, social networking is the easiest and most effective way to get heard. I try to utilize this as best as I can, and I'm sorry if it comes off annoying, but it is very difficult to get any attention these days, and I try to get listens and fans in the nicest and most informative way I know how. Because of this I try to pay attention to the tons of artists I am friends with on facebook, etc. Some of them pursue these fans in similar, respectable ways, but most of them just straight up turn people off and make me realize why it is so hard to be taken seriously as a hip hop artist in this day and age. If you're doing these things, I just want you to know, you're just perpetuating the image, not being yourself, and it makes people more skeptical of the artists who try to get attention legitimately. Here's the things I hate:

-People that write with all caps.... like that makes it more important?

-People that take pictures of their money... like we really think you're wealthy cuz you have this cash you just took out of the bank to take a picture with, and even if you are wealthy, like people really believe you made that money doing music

- Posting statuses that bitch about how fake and undeserving other artists are and how you're gonna save hip hop from them when your music is... as fake and cliche as it gets

-posting in your status what brand of clothes you just bought, or posting it under a picture of yourself

- posting things like "if you're not listening to XXXX I don't know what the fuck you're doing" ... fans are a privilege to have, not a right

-Artists that always refer to 'Haters' in their posts when everyone knows that people don't really care that much. They're just looking for other people to say "Gotta love the haters, use em as motivation man, means people are noticing ya... cliche statement cliche statement etc." Maybe it means there are parts of your art that people don't like for some reason, and you should ask yourself why... or you're just making 'haters' up

-Posting something ridiculous like "I'm the best rapper you've ever heard check out my music" so people check it out just cuz your claim is so ridiculous that you don't even believe it yourself.

-posting ANYTHING about your 'swag'
